Strawberry Shake

If you're wanting something sweet, this is a nutrient dense way to have your dessert in the healthiest way possible.

Start with some super low carb veggies and a protein for your meal and then sit back and enjoy this baby!...and then go for a walk.

By having your veggies first and then your protein, and finishing with your carbs you will keep your glucose spike minimal. Finishing it off with a brisk walk will also help keep the glucose spike to a minimum.

I attempted a smoothie for months and couldn't come up with one that actually tasted good and was good for you too and wasn't high carb. This baby checks ALL the boxes and no guilt because it is SO good for you!

Strawberries- I like the organic frozen ones from Costco (the membership pays for itself and then some if you get their credit card). From WebMD strawberries increase HDL (your good cholesterol), lower your blood pressure, good for your heart and help protect against cancer due to their high levels of antioxidents.

  • Green Tea- Is used to help naturally reduce cholesterol, blood pressure and reduce risk of ovarian cancer.

  • Lemon- By consuming the entire lemon, peel, seeds and all you increase the nutrient density immensely. The peel contains D-limonene, a potent compound that, according to Memorial Sloan Kettering, in lab studies induced apoptosis (in simple terms...it killed them) in cancer cells. It's also been shown to reduce inflammation, increase gut health and boost immunity.

  • MCT 8 oil- It's the good stuff that's in coconut oil. It's a medium chain triglyceride, which is easily processed by the liver so it's quickly converted to energy. They can help you stay in ketosis, as they are a clean source of fat. They have also been shown to raise HDL cholesterol, lower LDL cholesterol and also lower c-reactive protein (inflammatory marker). Basically, it's good for your heart when consumed in a low carb diet. Check out this Healthline article on it.

  • Extra virgin olive oil- I mean the good stuff, not just anything from the store, which is often cut with other oils and can actually cause inflammation in the body, rather than reduce it. You want to get your olive oil from a source that harvests and gets it to you ASAP. Ideally your olive oil should be consumed before it's 6 months old, after that point its make up begins to change. I like Kasandrino's Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Good extra virgin olive oil is full of healthy fats that are good for your heart, help reduce inflammation and type 2 diabetes. It's high in antioxidants and full of vitamins. A true super food if you are getting a high quality product. Read more on Healthline's site about the benefits of extra virgin olive oil!

  • Chia seeds- These little babies are high in fiber and an antioxidant called quercetin. Antioxidants help to eliminate damaged cells in our body which in turn helps protect against cancer and alzheimers. They are full of omega-3 fatty acids (those are the good ones that we need more of) and minerals that are body needs to function optimally.

  • Flax seeds- It's best to buy flax seeds and use a coffee grinder to grind them when you need them. Once ground, they oxidize quickly and lose their potency and many of their benefits are greatly reduced. Flax, like chia, are loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, nutrients and lignans, which have been shown to have strong cancer fighting properties. They can also help stabilize blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol as well. Healthline has a great article on them, check it out here.

  • Electroyltes- I LOVE LMNT!! They taste good are fun to mix with different things and they have healthy sodium in them. If you are in ketosis or trying to get into it, you need to be consuming high quality, clean electrolytes. The proper ratio of electrolytes is essential for our body to maintain homeostasis and perform all the many functions that it needs to maintain health and all of the systems functioning optimally. Please read labels VERY closely if you decide to use one other than LMNT, they usually have ingredients that are not good for you! You can buy LMNT here and put it on auto ship, so you never run out!

I hope you enjoy this powerhouse shake!!!!!!!!!!!!!
