Trying to stick to a healthy lifestyle can be difficult when not eating at home, so you absolutely must be prepared, or you're never going to make it. And trust me, it's a slippery slope once you veer off.
When invited to someone's house for dinner, I don't even ask if I can bring something. I just say, "I'll bring a salad!". Very firmly, lol. Most people don't object;)
That way, you're guaranteed to have something to put on your plate and be a part of the meal.
I also just realized that I've already killed the plant in the photo.
You'll see in these photos what I added was slightly different, the main thing is you want to add different colors and put contrasting colors adjacent to one another if you're going for an esthetically pleasing presentation.
Serve the dressing on the side so it doesn't get soggy. I usually take a greek salad dressing because it goes over well with everyone, no matter their normal dietary habits. I really like this one from Megan over at detoxinista.com.
I have different platters that I use depending on the number of people, obviously. But, I'm really loving the great big circular platter (see below) for salads lately, it's super shallow ( about 2" deep) so it allows for a beautiful presentation and people are still accessing the greens along with the toppings so that the last people in line don't end up with only greens, which is always a tragic situation.
I'll send out emails once a week, updating you on the previous week's posts and recipes. Click below to subscribe, it's free, and you'll be sure not to miss out on any great info!
